About the Feature Wall
Queenswood's hospitality centre is a very special place. Not only is it a calming and centrally located space to welcome guests, but it's also the location of our beautiful feature wall. This feature wall displays 16 photos submitted by Queenswood community members in last year's feature wall photo contest. Last year was the first year we held the contest. It was a way of celebrating and "christening" the newly-renovated hospitality centre. But we received so many photo entries and so much enthusiasm that we decided that we would make the photo contest an annual event. Photos submitted are also sometimes used in Queenswood's promotional materials, such as brochures, the website, and the annual catalogue, even if they aren't selected for the feature wall. So without further ado, we would like to formally invite you to submit your photos for Queenswood's 2010 feature wall photo contest.
Contest Rules and Guidelines
- Each contestant may submit up to a maximum of 5 photos. Additional photos will not be reviewed.
- Photo submissions will be judged on visual aesthetics (by itself and in the context of its appearance on the wall), photo quality, and especially its connection to Queenswood and it's spiritual significance.
- You may submit a description with each photo to explain its context and significance for you and / or the Queenswood community. The description will not be shared with the public and will not be displayed on the feature wall.
- Your photo submission(s) do not need to be cropped to a square, but if your photo is chosen and it is not square in shape, Queenswood will crop it.
- All photos must be the legal property of the contestant (in other words, you must have taken the photo or have the right to use it in a photo contest).
- Persons visible in the photo must give their consent for a photo of them to be displayed at Queenswood and used in our promotional materials (see below). It is your responsibility to ensure proper consent has been given.
- Queenswood may alter photos for quality improvement.
- If the photo is printed for use on the feature wall (or other promotional materials), Queenswood will include the photographer's credit whenever possible.
Submitting Photos by Internet
The following photo formats can be accepted: .jpg, .gif, .tiff, .psd, .bmp, .eps, .png and .pict. Each photo cannot exceed 9.77 mb (10,000 kb). Please submit your photo(s) in its/their highest quality (300ppi is preferable); we will use the submitted files to print the winning photos.
Submitting Photos by Mail or in Person
Although digital submissions by Internet are preferred, we'll also be happy to accept printed photos, which will be scanned and then returned to you by mail. Please remember to include your name, email address (if applicable), return address, and photo descriptions if applicable. Photos can be mailed to:

Deadline and Results
Photos will be accepted from Tues. June 1 until Fri. June. 25 at 11:59pm PST. Contestants will be notified of the results the week of June 28th, and the new feature wall will be publically revealed at Queenswood's open house on Sat. July 3. The QW blog will later feature the photos the week following the open house (week of July 12th).
